Yes, you've read correctly, it's the ever famous "my first time" tag from Sprinkle of Glitter (aka Louise!) and although she completed hers via a youtube video for your ears, I feel this could be done just as well as a blog post! Another way for you lot to delve in (ooh get your snorkel on!) and find out more about me.

Here we go...

first kiss

First childish kiss was when I was about 9 and me and my best friend was a boy who I'd known since I was only a few months old and we were playing pokemon cards at his house and he asked if I'd ever kissed someone, I said no, he hadn't either so we kissed to get it over with!
First proper kiss was when I was 16 with an ex boyfriend after he asked me to be his girlfriend!

first pet

A hamster called Lucy who was ginger with white splodges and I loved!

first date

Was about a month ago! We went out for dinner and to see the new hunger games movie! A good date overall and led to a few more dates!

first cd ever bought

"Now that's what I call music 48" featuring Atomic Kitten and other such amazing bands who I loved at primary school!

first boyfriend

Obviously I had some "boyfriends" at primary school which doesn't really count, my first proper relationship started when I was 16 and ended two and a half years later.

first concert

Was to see McFly with my family as my brother in 2005 and I loved them, I saved up my pocket money to buy a tour tshirt which still fits me now and I had an amazing time!

first best friend

Was probably the boy who I shared my first kiss with! We're no longer best friends but do stay in contact and our mums are best friends.

first job

Aside from cleaning my grandma's house for money, my first real job was working in a supermarket cooking roast chickens and other "Food to Go" items and making/cooking pizzas. Complete with white coat and hat with a hair net attached, fetching, I know.

first piercing

my ear lobes when I was 7 and they're still pierced now!

first tweet

"I am crap at twitter :)" - wow, so original, and almost 29,000 tweets later, I'm still not an amazing tweeter!

So there you go, justa  few of my 'firsts', hope you enjoyed delving into my life and I'll be seeing you on Wednesday for the first post of my new series!
Have a fun few days and hope you all had an amazing christmas and have a wonderful new years eve! xox

makeup look: christmas day

Why hello there! An exciting post (well I'm excited, not sure about you guys!) which I loved creating and photographing.

I decided to go for a more subtle eye than I am used to and a pop on colour on my lips, if you can't wear a red lip on christmas when can you?!

For my brows I used MAC's Charcoal Brown applied using a MAC 266 angled brush. A shimmery champagne all over the lid with MAC's Satin Taupe in the outer corner and a little berry shade for added definition. The lipstick I used was one from the Kate Moss Matte collection by Rimmel London in number 207 which is a bright berry red but I also love wearing MAC's Russian Red.

I feel that this is a classic look which could be worn all throughout the festive period whether it be christmas shopping, a work christmas party or the big day itself! I wore this look all day and wearing a classic red lip hightened my confidence and made me feel like a real lady and I'm hoping it will have the same effect on some of you!

Have a wonderful christmas/holiday everyone, I hope it is filled with magic and sparkles for each one of you. My next post will probably be on new year's day when I start my new series (see previous post) which I'm rather pumped for!

See you soon chums! xox

New Series Idea

Good evening, how are we all?

Just a quick little temporary post going up today to ask your opinion on something!

I've just been sat *attempting* to finish my presentation and a series for my blog popped into my head and I thought it would be a cool idea which would give you guys and insights into what a like and also would be good for me to look back through at the end of the year!

How about every Wednesday I post either a 'Song of the Day' or 'Playlist of the Day' to co-inside with the regular posts which go up at the weekend?

How does that sound? Good I'm hoping cause when I thought of it I practically jumped and had to write it down somewhere!

It's quite lucky that January 1st is a Wednesday and that would be a great time to start so perhaps I'll do this for a couple of weeks and see whether you guys/I like it and take it from there!

I'll leave this post up until then just so people get chance to see it.

Be prepared for a new post this weekend, hope you're all having a wonderful week before christmas! xx

Instagram Update and It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hey!
I didn't fancy taking ages to write a big post this weekend as it's my first weekend back home for Christmas and wanted to spend it with  my family!

So here's a little update of some instagram photos and a few snaps I took with my camera.

posing for a new blog post // all snuggled up to watch Christmas films // reindeer at our students union // my own little bauble for the tree at home // train selfie on the way home to surprise mother bear for her birthday // vodka always lies to me and leads to embarrassment // assignment work due before Christmas breakup // you never appreciate baths until you go to university

Hope everyone is enjoying the festive season so far, I'm having fun but struggling to adapt to being back at home and filling the gap I left. Plus I miss my uni friends and other people so much, skyping them just isn't the same as being with them!

Right, I'm off to have a cup of tea and a mince pie,

My Everyday Winter Makeup Routine

Well hello chums!
Here's a post that's a little different! I was about to do my makeup for uni the other day and thought I'd take photo's of the process to show you what I do on an everyday basis now that winter has rolled in!

So here's me: facially naked on the internet for the first time. Feeling rather nervous! But no one's perfect right?
So my main base is: Revlon Colour Stay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin
I then use the classic 'Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor' on any blemishes and under my eyes and set my T-Zone and under my eyes with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
For my brows I use Sleek's Brow kit with a MAC 217 brush
Wow, what was I thinking here?!
I use a bit of Burt's Bees lip balm which I love all year round but especially during winter. I keep it in my handbag at all times!
My eyeshadow base is 'Seventeen's' eye base in 'Wild Nude'
The shadows I use are MAC 'Satin Taupe' // MUA Number '' // Sleek iDivine Pallette in 'Au Naturel'
Brushes Galore!
I use the shimmery nude for my inner corners and the black for a bit of definition along the lash line and a tiny bit on the outer corners.
YSL Baby Doll mascara (Only a tester but it's on my Christmas list!)
Here's the finished eyes!
Now for contour and blush! Sleek contour kit and Seventeen's blush in 'First Flush'
*Poser alert!*

For this particular day I mixed two lipsticks: MAC Vegas Volt and Rimmel Kate Moss '' But I tend to wear red and berry shades during this time such as MAC Russian Red//Lady Danger
THE FINISHED LOOK!
I also wore this makeup out in the evening to the cinema and to dinner last weekend but made the eyes slightly darker and added a little more mascara and I was good to go!

Bad Breakups

Hey everyone,
I was lying in bed this morning (oo-er!) and was thinking about how much my life has changed in the past 5/6 months and how many mistakes I've made, but more importantly how much I've learned about how to deal with situations, about myself and how not to make the same mistakes again. So I thought I'd write this post just in case any of my readers are going through something similar and I could possibly shed a bit of light on the subject or give a new insight on things, but most importantly, to give hope and positivity about such a sensitive subject. I've been wanting to write this post for a while, but only recently have I become me again and feel ready to be speaking about my breakup and not get upset by it all. I'm finally happy with who I am and it's working out pretty well for me - not to reveal anything!

Breakups are are tough, no one is denying that and you might well end up feeling like you're all on your own. Half the battle is opening up to people because you feel like you're boring them or they don't care. But trust me, you will know at least one person who cares and wants to listen and more importantly, for you to be happy.

So I'm gonna go through a few points that I think are important to consider going through a bad breakup.

Do not let their negativity get into your head.
If you've broken up with the because you've realised that they aren't who you want anymore, or you're standing up for yourself and not putting up with their poor actions then chances are they'll try and make you feel bad about yourself and convince you that you have made a mistake, they can change. I've seen this happen far too many times, one being to myself. But trust me, you've got to stay strong and keep reminding yourself of the reason you broke up, you did it because you were unhappy and this is your way of getting back to your old self. If they try to tell you things such as "You'll never find someone who loves you as much as I do" or " You're not good enough for anyone else" you need to ignore them right away. They have probably been caught off guard that you have stuck up for yourself, they have lost their power over you and are just trying to get it back. If you listen to their negativity then chances are you'll end up back at square one, in a relationship which makes you unhappy and with a person who doesn't deserve you. Be strong.

Surround yourself with positive influences.
The worst thing to do when going through a hard breakup is sit at home on your own looking through old photos, watching romance films and crying about everything. It gets you nowhere, trust me. I was lucky, I moved to university a few months after my breakup so that kept me so busy but if you don't have a big life event such as this, spend time with people who make you happy. Do fun things that you couldn't while with this person, get out the house and enjoy everything that life has to offer you! This is your chance to be a little bit selfish and do exactly what you want for once!

Have ME time.
This follows on from my last point really, but enjoy yourself. Go that hair colour you always said you would, buy that jumper you've loved but couldn't afford because you had to pay for days out instead. Just enjoy yourself! Be a bit selfish and do everything you said you couldn't. You'll feel great after.

Time heals so much.
Have patience with yourself, I wish I could say that you'll wake up after a week and you'll be over it because chances are you won't. It's going to take time to get over it and be ready to move on, don't rush yourself. It might take 2 months or 2 years, who knows but don't force yourself to move because that will only lead to 'relapse' and regret.

Don't rush for a rebound.
This one is super important. I've seen so many of my friends jump straight into a new relationship thinking it will help them get over the other person and fulfil the empty space their ex left. From my experience, this just leads to another poor relationship because you're not ready for it. When the time is right, you will know and when the time is right, the right person will come along. Don't force things and let the gods above do their work! It takes the pressure off things an you can naturally become involved with someone.

Believe there is something better out there for you.
This is the most important! Breakups feel like the end of the world but they aren't. Have faith that happiness will come soon and it will get better for you because it will, I can hand-on-heart promise. Learn from the mistakes you may or may not have made last time and you will be thankful of this when it comes to your next relationship. You're worth so much more than all the sadness and heartache of the last breakup and something great is probably round the corner, you just have to be willing to accept it and be in the right frame of mind to do so. Take your time and be comfortable with what you want. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do, if you aren't ready for something, then communicate it to the other person, if they care about you then they will understand and respect your boundaries!

So there we go, that's just some of the things I've learnt from my breakup and the breakups of those around me and I hope that I could help just one of the people who have read this. If anyone ever needs an outside to listen then my email address is: katiegoodwin1995@gmail.com or if you prefer to be anonymous, then I have a tumblr which is: http://bonjour-katie.tumblr.com

Stay positive and be true to yourself,

Everyday Skin Care

Bonjour mes amis!
I was doing my little skin care regime last night and then I all of a sudden knew what this weeks blog post could be! This has pretty much been my staple for the past few months now and I don't have any plans to change it any time soon.

So, in a morning when showering I use 'Clean and Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash' (£2.99 - but on offer in Boots for £2 at the minute!) on a make up-free face and massage in.

I like that this wash has teeny-tiny beads in which exfoliate the face without being too harsh to use everyday. The wash foams up and is easily massaged into the face and is quickly rinsed leaving my face feeling squeaky clean and soft too.

After I get out the shower I go straight in with the 'Super Facialist by Una Brennan Tea Flower Mattifying Moisturiser' which is targeted for oily skin like mine.

It retails at £12.99 in Boots, but again is a 1/3 off at the minute so you can pick it up for just £8.66 - I'll definitely be popping into Boots this week to pick one up in advance!
It's what you would expect a normal moisturiser to do and ticks all the boxes for me. It sinks in fast, smells fresh and leaves my skin soft and as a good base for my makeup.

When it comes to taking off my makeup I've been using the 'L'oreal Paris Skin Perfection' range in either:

  • The Cleansing and Perfecting Milk (£4.99)
  • 3 in 1 Purifying Miceller Solution (£4.99)

And I personally prefer the Solution rather than the Milk as it's lighter on the skin and you don't feel like you're smushing a cream around your face to then have to get a clean cotton pad to wipe it all off. With the Solution you get the same effect, no gunky eyes and use less cotton pads which is a winner for me. Plus then you feel like your moisturiser is actually sinking in and not just sitting on top of cleansing milk mixed with makeup cause that's just gross!

For moisturising at night time, I use the same moisturiser as in the morning because I know it does a good job and will work while I sleep. But if I were to find an intense moisturiser which is better for using at night then I'd use that - I'm open to suggestions please!

Once a week I use the 'Super Facialist by Una Brennan Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay Mask' (£8.99 - but also on offer) which is a clay mask which you just leave on for 15 minutes and then remove with warm water. It's easy as pie! It just a nice way to get 15 minutes peace (or longer) and to chill rather than be rushing around all the time! I then just use the matching moisturiser and my skin feels all pampered and lovely.

So that's it! All high street products and all reasonably priced and they have lasted me so well especially during freshers week where I was doing my makeup twice a day for daytime and evening and my skin didn't suffer because of these staple products.
So I hope you enjoy and maybe try out some of my recommendations, please let me know what else you want to see and I'll see you soon.

Toodlepip! x

Halloween Flashback

Hey!
Bit late on the bandwagon I know but I've got a free Saturday morning that isn't filled with work or a food shop (hurrah!)

This was the first year I actually celebrated Halloween and dressed up for the occasion and let me tell you, it was so much fun and I'm already thinking of ideas for costumes for next year!

My group of friends and I decided we would have a running theme of  'Doctors and Patients' so we were recognisable as a group and all looked the same!

Two of the boys bought 'scrubs' online and as they both do medical courses, 'borrowed' a few pairs of latex gloves from practical rooms. Then they just flicked fake blood over themselves and chewed a few blood capsules and they were done!

Us girls bought XXL white tshirts from primark, cut them using scissors, a sharp knife and used a cork screw to score the tshirt in places - quick note, be careful doing this and lay the shirt on cardboard so's not to damaged the surface underneath!

Then we rubbed in fake blood and some cheap dark brown eyeshadow to look like dirt. Although we all used the same method, all the tshirt's looked so unique - it was a good technique.

In total, it costs us less than a fiver which for students, is brilliant.

For my makeup I decided straight away that I wanted a bright red lip and to dribble blood from my mouth so I opted for MAC 'Russian Red' which I knew was highly pigmented and would stay on the whole night without the need for touch ups.

I decided on a black smoky eye (halloween has got to be the only day when dark eyes and lips are acceptable!) and I used the Sleek iDivine pallette in 'Au Natural' to create the smoky effect.

I teamed all this with strong contouring using a mixture on my normal bronzer and a bit of brown and purple toned red eyeshadow to create a bruised effect, I contoured my collar bones with this also and added a few bruises to my arms and legs.

Here is my finished look:

We couldn't resist carving a pumpkin as we had a few guests so we decided to put our flat number on one side and a scary face on the other!

It was a great night and we had such fun playing dress up! I need more fancy dress parties/club nights now, I feel so creative!

Hope you've enjoyed this post - apologies for the lack of good quality photos, I was having too much fun to whip out my Canon!

MAC - 'Vegas Volt'

MAC 'Vegas Volt'' £15

Whenever I'm online, nine times out of ten I end up on the MAC website lusting after a lipstick or eyeshadow and this has been going on for about a year now guys, it was tragic. So finally, after being paid  from my job (eee!) I decided to buy a couple of lipsticks just to start off my collection and see if I like them or not!

The colour I'm wearing here is 'Vegas Volt' and I bought this because I love wearing peach on my lips as I feel it brightens up my face and plus, I've just got back from my holiday so I thought this would look nice with a tan - I wasn't wrong! On the website it is described as a 'Full Power Coral' and I don't disagree at all. The colour is bright but not luminous on my lips which makes this perfect for spring or summer!

I love the formula as it's quite a matte finish but very creamy on the lips and doesn't dry them out at all which is a must for me as I always have dry lips (if anyone wants to suggest a good lip balm please do!)

So my first impressions of MAC lipsticks are so high that as soon as I woke up this morning I ordered another two from the website which are more suited to autumn/winter and I can't wait for them to arrive! Red lips for this autumn winter are a go go!

I hope you've enjoyed this post, I'm sorry the lighting on the photos isn't that great, I'm still working on a good place to take photos where the natural lighting is good!
Please let me know what you want to see more of!

See you soon! xx

I'm going to University!

So it's taken 2 days for it to sink in and I still don't think it as full but I'M GOING TO MY DREAM UNIVERSITY IN 5 WEEKS!

So that's out of my system... Hurrah!

Wednesday night I couldn't sleep, I was waking up at least 4 times an hour and having a blurry-eyed check of the time and of UCAS before going back to sleep.

Finally at a more reasonable time of 7:30 I finally managed to get onto UCAS and saw...

And I burst into tears and couldn't speak and my Mum thought it was bad news due to my crying so I pointed at the screen and she burst into tears too! It was an odd but funny moment as we were both sobbing and laughing at the same time.

I am so excited to be going to my firm choice of university and can't wait to start learning and developing skills for my future career path, alongside making new friends and partying hard of course! I hope university is my chance to explore who I really am without worrying what anyone else thinks, my chance to become independent and learn how to live on my own (which actually doesn't sound too scary!). I'm ready to move on to bigger and better things and I'm so so excited to have been given the opportunity to do so.

Have any of my readers had their A level results? How did you get on? What's your degree choice or future career path?
Let me know!

Love Katie xx
